LSU shortstop Alex Bregman has been drafted second in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft.
The Golden Spikes Award Finalist is the second highest pick in the history of the LSU Baseball program. The highest pick was Ben McDonald who went number one in the 1989 draft to the Baltimore Orioles.
Bregman had a fantastic junior year with a batting average of .312, hit nine home runs, and 25 extra base hits in the 2015 season.
In an interesting note, the Houston Astros just recently called up their first pick in the 2012 MLB Draft shortstop Carlos Correa and is slated to start tonight against the Chicago White Sox.
When asked about Bregman’s position, the Astros said that they would probably move the LSU shortstop to another position down the line.
