The LSU Tigers front seven took a big hit on Wednesday afternoon when head coach Ed Orgeron told the media that junior Arden Key would not be playing against Notre Dame in the Citrus Bowl.
There had been a big debate about this since the bowl game was announced if the star pass rusher was going to play. Key only played in eight games this season after a tumultuous offseason that saw him take a leave of absence in the spring and missing the first two and last two games of the season.
Orgeron also confirmed that linebackers Corey Thompson and Donnie Alexander would not play in the bowl game due to injuries.
However, the Tigers weren’t the only ones with some news as head coach Brian Kelly announced that he was suspending two players.
Kevin Stepherson, who leads the team in touchdown receptions, was suspended from all team activities on Wednesday along with CJ Holmes. Holmes and Stepherson were arrested last week for shoplifting. However, it is unknown at this time if it affects their availability on January 1st.
