A former Louisiana Ragin Cajun is one step closer to the show.
Spencer Arrighetti, the TCU transfer that was the ace for Matt Deggs’ squad in 2021, was promoted to Triple-A Sugar Land Monday by the Astros organization.
Arrighetti, an Albuquerque, NM native, was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB Draft by Houston from the Ragin Cajuns. After two years in the system, he is the ninth-rated overall prospect and the second-highest pitcher in the Astros’ system.
So far this season, Arrighetti has a 7-2 record with an ERA of 4.15 in 60.2 innings. He has also added 79 punchouts with the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Astros’ Double-A affiliate.
During his time in Lafayette, Arrighetti was a difference maker for the Cajuns, pitching 83.2 innings with a 7-6 record while adding 91 strikeouts and 29 earned runs for a 3.12 ERA
The Sugar Land Space Cowboys finished the first half of the 2023 season with a record of 33-42, 18 games back of the Oklahoma City Dodgers and good enough for third place in the Pacific Coast League East Division.
