New Orleans Pelicans head coach Stan Van Gundy adds a familiar face to his coaching staff.
Former Sacramento Kings assistant coach Bob Beyer will join Van Gundy’s staff with the Pelicans, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Beyer spent the 2019-20 season in Sacramento under head coach Luke Walton.
Van Gundy has experience with Beyer during his time with Orlando and Detroit. Beyer worked with the new Pelicans head coach in Orlando from 2007-2012 and again in Detroit from 2014-2018.
Beyer was an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors in the 2012-13 season. He joined the Charlotte Hornets staff in the following season in 2013-14.
According to The Athletic’s Sacramento Kings beat writer Jason Jones, “Beyer was credited for his work when the Kings played some of their best defense.”
