The Houston Astros announced conceptual plans to remove the signature staple of Minute Maid Park in Tal’s Hill after the completion of the 2015 season.
Tal’s Hill, named after former president of the Astros Tal Smith, is an incline in center field that has caused trouble for outfielders since the ballpark opened in 2000. It also has a flagpole situated on the hill, which is an oddity among baseball parks.
The center field, which is currently 436 feet, will be moved up to 409 feet. The seating at Minute Maid will remain pretty much the same with improved visibility from center field and the addition of three new bars, four new food locations, and premium group seating at field level.
