The 47th Annual Bayou Classic was unable to take place in New Orleans this upcoming season but a location was announced on Monday.
The contest between Grambling State University and Southern University will take place in Independence Stadium in Shreveport.
This year’s game was postponed after the Southwestern Athletic Conference made the decision to move fall sports to the spring. Due to renovations happening to the Superdome in New Orleans at that time, the annual game will be played in Shreveport.
This is from a statement made by the Bayou Classic organizers:
“This is a one-time, temporary move of location, similar to 2005 following Hurricane Katrina when the Bayou Classic was played in Houston, Texas.”
Grambling State and Southern will play on Saturday, April 17.
