Just days after winning Super Bowl LIX inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Kellen Moore will now call it home.
Multiple reports from NFL insiders came out on Tuesday that Moore, the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, has been named the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints.
Moore, 36, already brings a long list of experience as both a player and coach. After spending five seasons as a player in the NFL, Moore retired and was named quarterbacks coach for the Dallas Cowboys, working with Dak Prescott. In 2019, Moore was elevated to offensive coordinator where he stayed until 2023 when he and the Cowboys parted ways.
The former Boise State quarterback then spent the 2023 season as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers, working with one of the brightest young QBs in the game with Justin Herbert.
He spent the 2024 season with the Eagles as Phildelphia capped off a historic season by winning Super Bowl LIX 40-22 over the Kansas City Chiefs. Moore worked with Jalen Hurts as well as new addition to the team Saquon Barkley. Barkley had the best year of his career by far, rushing for 2, 504 yards and 18 touchdowns. His 2,504 yards are the most by any running back in a full season.
The Eagles’ offense ranked seventh in the league in scoring and eighth in total yards, averaging nearly 6 yards a play on the season.
Moore will now take on his toughest challenge yet as he will look to put the Saints back in playoff contention with an aging roster and the worst salary cap situation in the NFL.
The next big step will be composing his staff. Many reports have former Saints QB and current Eagles QBs Coach Doug Nussmeier as the favorite for his offensive coordinator spot and Brandon Staley, the former head coach of the Chargers when Moore was OC, to be his defensive coordinator in the Big Easy.
