The Ragin Cajuns didn’t need to go to extra innings this afternoon to handle Sam Houston State (0-2) to win the first series of the season 6-2.
Joe Robbins wasted little time getting things started, leading off for the Cajuns with a blast over the left field wall to put them up 1-0. LSU-E transfer Steven Sensley decided to bring the aluminum in the bottom of the 4th as well with a bomb over the right field wall to go up 2-0.
The Bearkats finally got on the board in the top of the seventh with an RBI triple by Spence Rahm to cut the lead in half.
But the Cajuns were able to put the game away in the bottom half with Brenn Conrad getting hit by a pitch with the bases juiced, Ishmael Edwards coming in on a wild pitch, and a two-run double by Kyle Clement to put the nail in the coffin.
Wyatt Marks got the win allowing one run off three hits, throwing one wild pitch, hitting one batter, and fanning eight batters in six innings of work. Hogan Harris recorded his first save of his collegiate career allowing one run off three hits, and striking out three in two and two-thirds innings.
The Cajuns (2-0) go for the sweep on Sunday with Nick Lee on the mound. First pitch set for 1 pm.
