The Ragin Cajuns snapped a two-game losing streak in their conference opener against Texas State by the score of 47-29.
Texas State got on the board first early in the first quarter with Tyler Jones connected with Robert Lowe for the score.
Cajuns quickly responded with Jalen Nixon connecting with Al Riles to tie the game up.
Texas State took back the lead early in the second quarter with Tyler Jones taking it on the ground for a 31-yard score.
The Cajuns closed out the first half with an incredible catch by senior wideout Jamal Robinson in the endzone to tie it up heading into the locker room.
Robinson got another touchdown on the first drive of the second half with a 31-yarder to take the lead for the first time in the game.
The Cajuns extended their lead with a quick 3-yard jaunt by Elijah McGuire into the endzone. Nixon took one on the ground and scored from 18 yards out to go up three scores.
The Bobcats responded right away with Brandon Smith blazing down the field with a 95-yard kickoff return for the score. Jeryl Brazil responded to Smith’s return with a 100 yard kickoff return of his own and this was the nail in the Bobcats coffin.
The Cajuns (2-3, 1-0 SBC) will have 10 days off before taking on the Arkansas State Red Wolves (2-3, 1-0 SBC) in a nationally televised game with kickoff set for 7:00 pm.
