The Cajuns seemed to have a lot of distractions this weekend. Former Cajun great Ron Guidry being honored this weekend and having finals week wrap up earlier in the day could cost an ordinary team, but this is no ordinary team. The Cajuns continued to roll with a 7-0 win over Appalachian State (14-32, 8-17 SBC).
The Cajuns got on the board in the bottom of the third with a solo shot to right field by Nick Thurman. Kyle Clement kept it going later in the inning with a single to left field that would score Hunter Kasuls.
Alex Pinero got three runs across on Friday night starting with a three run double thanks to a fielding error by the leftfielder later in the bottom of the third. He got another one across in the bottom of the fifth with a single to the left field. Thurman put it away in the bottom of the fifth with a bunt single that would allow Brad Antchak to score off of a throwing error by the pitcher.
Gunner Leger improved to 6-3 on the year with five shutout innings, allowing only four hits, walked two, and fanned six batters.
The Cajuns (30-16, 15-7 SBC) will try to clinch the series on Saturday with first pitch set for 6 pm.
