Cajuns

The Ragin Cajuns took care of business to start the Collegeinsider.com Tournament against Texas A&M Corpus Christi with a convincing 96-72 victory.

The Islanders started off strong, going up by as much as nine points, but the Ragin Cajuns went on a 14-0 run late in the first half and headed into the locker room with a 46-37 lead.

The Cajuns started to put the pedal to the metal in the second half and kept the distance between themselves and the Islanders to double digits the rest of the way.

Kasey Shepherd led the way with 28 points on the night, 18 of which were from behind the arc. The senior also racked up three boards, two assists, and one steal on the night. Shawn Long got another double-double on Wednesday with 17 points, 10 boards, three assists, and one block.

Rashawn Thomas led the Islanders with 17 points, six boards, one assists, two blocks, and one steal on the evening.

The Cajuns will advance to the second round and will hit the road with the next matchup to be determined.
