Heading into the season, several players were concerned when it came to this series against South Alabama (15-11, 8-2 Sun Belt) saying that they show up for this series.
It looked like no problem for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (15-11, 5-2 Sun Belt) on Friday night as they dominated the Jags by the score of 11-1.
The Cajuns wasted little time getting on the board with Joe Robbins going yard with a two-run shot into the pine trees to give them the early edge.
South Alabama was able to cut the lead in two with Brendan Donovan hitting a solo shot to right field in the fourth.
That wouldn’t last long as the Cajuns put up five runs in the bottom of the fifth. The scoring frenzy was capped off by a two-run single from Izzy Edwards.
The bottom of the eighth would yield similar results as they scored four more runs to give the Cajuns a big win.
Gunner Leger improved to 5-1 on the year allowing one run off of six hits, walked four, and struck out four in six innings of work.
The Cajuns will look to clinch the series on Saturday with first pitch set for 6 pm.
