A poor defensive effort on Monday has led to the if necessary game to be a necessary game with the Cajuns falling to Arizona 6-3.
The Wildcats quickly got on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-run double through the right side. Bobby Dalbec tried to duplicate what the Cajuns did the day before with a squeeze bunt, but the Cajuns stopped it short with a nice double play, but allowed one run to score.
The offensive onslaught continued with Louis Boyd getting Salazar across with a sac bunt to make it 4-0. Cody Ramer got another run across later in the inning for Arizona with an RBI single to center field.
Boyd struck again with the sac bunt to score Salazar in the bottom of the fourth. The Cajuns finally got on the board when Steven Sensley scored off of a wild pitch.
The Cajuns tried to keep the rally going with Joe Robbins in the top of the eighth sending a two-run blast over the left field wall to make it 6-3, but unable to keep the ball rolling.
Evan Guillory dropped to 5-6 on the year allowing three runs off two hits, walked one, hit a batter and couldn’t record an out before Coach Robichaux pulled him.
The Cajuns will try to keep their season alive in a winner-take-all matchup against Arizona with first pitch at 7 pm.
