After a stellar showing on Saturday afternoon, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (3-3) took one on the chin against Sam Houston State (3-4) by the score of 8-3.
The Cajuns started out very strong with a pair of RBI singles in the top of the first from Steven Sensley and Alex Pinero to take an early lead. However, Sam Houston would respond in the bottom half of the first courtesy of an RBI triple from Andrew Fregia to make it 2-1.
Taylor Beene would tie things up in the bottom of the second with an RBI single up the middle. The Bearkats would take the lead in the bottom of the third with a grounder from Fregia that would score Mac Odom safely.
The Cajuns would tie things up in the top of the fifth with Hunter Kasuls hitting a home run to left center field. This was his first hit of the season for the sophomore.
It would not remain tied for long though as Odom broke things up with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. The Bearkats would pour it on in the inning with two more runs capped off by Robie Rojas hitting an RBI double to left center field.
Evan Guillory dropped to 0-1 on the season allowing six runs off eight hits, walked one, and struck out two in four innings of work.
The Cajuns will wrap up the early season road trip on Tuesday when they travel to Natchitoches to take on Northwestern State (3-3) with first pitch set for 6 pm.
