After run-ruling Stephen F. Austin 12-1 in the early matchup, Louisiana turned right around and matched up with Lafayette College for the second time in this series. Kandra Lamb pitched a gem while Karly Heath jump-started the offense in a 6-0 win for the Cajuns.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Scoring was hard to come by until the top of the fourth, when Sophie Piskos hit a single through the middle, followed by a Karly Heath two-run moonshot to make it 2-0 in the fourth for Louisiana.
In the fifth, a fielder’s choice got Maddie Hayden aboard, followed by a single by Alexa Langliers to put runners at second and third with one out after a bobbled exchange advanced both runners. Later in the inning, Jourdyn Campbell grounded into a fielder’s choice, scoring Hayden to make it 3-0. Sophie Piskos drove Campbell in with a single up the gap to increase the Cajun lead to 4-0 going into the bottom of the fifth.
In the seventh, Lauren Allred came in as a pinch hitter and launched a two-run home run to the scoreboard to make it 6-0 in favor of the Cajuns.
