Louisiana put their eight-game win streak on the line against a Texas State squad that the Cajuns were already familiar with. Greg Williams joined the 1000 point club for his career with a 23-point performance as the Cajuns took down Texas State 82-63.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first four minutes of the contest were sloppy both ways, with Texas State holding a 6-2 lead at the 15:56 mark of the first half. Nate Martin leads all scorers as he had all six of the Bobcats’ points.
Over the next 11 minutes of the first half, Louisiana turned around to a 27-20 lead, outscoring Texas State 25-14 in the process. The Cajuns continued to shoot the ball well, going 9-14 from the field and perfect from downtown in the first 12 minutes. Greg Williams Jr led all scorers with 10.
Williams continued his nice stretch of strong performances with another first-half for the books, as the LCA product had 15 points on 6-6 shooting, including 3-3 from deep, to give Louisiana a 36-24 lead with 3:30 remaining in the first half.
Texas State went on a 10-2 run to end the first half with a 38-34 score line in what always felt like a close matchup between these two teams. The Cajuns shot 52% from the field in the first half against a good Bobcat defense.
Texas State started the second half by answering every offensive bucket from Louisiana, only giving the Cajuns nine points to start the half. At the 15:53 mark of the period, Louisiana held a 47-41 advantage.
The contest stayed close down the stretch, with Louisiana outscoring the Bobcats 19-16 to hold a 66-57 lead with 7:31 remaining. Louisiana has hit on nine of their last 11 shots in the second half and Greg Williams continues to lead all scorers with 21.
Louisiana went on a 16-6 run to close out the contest with a 82-63 victory over Texas State in a game that stayed close most of the way. The Cajuns shot 50% from downtown and were outrebounded in the win 34-29.
