The Ragin Cajuns were kept in check in the Sun Belt Conference opener.
The UL Monroe Warhawks (4-2, 1-0 Sun Belt), thanks to some help from Majok Deng, were able to slow down the Cajuns to open up conference play with an 80-71 win.
The Cajuns kept it close with the Warhawks early on, but ULM was too much from three-point range, shooting for 60% on the night, while the Cajuns were a ghastly 11%.
Tyrone Wooten came off the bench and led the way for the Cajuns with 12 points, two boards, and one assist on the night. Three players were in double digits for the Cajuns on Thursday night. Shawn Long, Jay Wright, and Jay Hedgeman all ended their nights with 10 points.
But the big story was Deng’s sensational night. The senior forward stuffed the stat sheet with 30 points, eight boards, one block, one steal, and one assist on the night.
The Cajuns (2-3, 0-1 Sun Belt) will return to the Cajundome on December 9th to take on McNeese State (1-5) with tipoff set for 7:00 pm.
