The late season slide for the Ragin Cajuns basketball team continued on Thursday night against Georgia State (16-12, 9-10 SBC) with a 72-69 loss.
The Cajuns couldn’t get out of the starting gates and it gave the Panthers ample room to get a sizable lead. The Cajuns were able to get within two points with three minutes left in the first half after a pair of free throws by Steven Wronkoski, but Kevin Ware and Isaiah Williams made it an eight point lead with a pair of threes at the end of the first half.
The Ragin Cajuns started out strong in the second half, getting the lead early with a 14-2 run. However, the Panthers got the lead back with three minutes left in regulation with a 17-5 run and held on to hand the Cajuns their fifth loss in six games.
Bryce Washington led the Cajuns with 21 points, 10 boards, two assists, and one block on the night. Jay Wright was right behind him with 16 points, four boards, four assists, and two steals.
Ware led the Panthers with 16 points, three boards, one assist, one block, and two steals on the night.
The Cajuns (15-13, 11-8 SBC) will try to end the regular season on a high note on Saturday night against Georgia Southern (14-15, 10-9 SBC) with tipoff set for 7:15 pm.
