The Ragin Cajuns opened up conference play exactly the way they wanted to on Friday night with a 4-2 win over the Troy Trojans (9-7, 0-1 SBC)
After five scoreless innings, the Cajuns got on the board first thanks to a dropped fly ball in right field got Brian Mills home on the error. Steven Sensley continued the scoring later in the top of the sixth with an RBI single that scored Brenn Conrad.
But the Trojans were able to respond quickly in the bottom of the sixth with a two run shot by Payton Fuller to knot things up at two apiece.
But the Cajuns got back in control in the top of the 9th with an RBI double by Ishmael Edwards, which was followed up by an RBI single up the middle by Nick Thurman to put the game away for the Cajuns.
Jevin Huval improved to 1-1 on the year allowing one hit and striking out one in his one inning of relief. Dylan Moore recorded his third save of the season with one inning of work, striking out the side.
The Cajuns (9-5, 1-0 SBC) will take on the Trojans in the second of a three-game series on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 3 pm.
