Cajuns Outlast Princeton 5-3

Posted by clintdomingue on June 4, 2016 in Latest News

Cajuns

The Ragin Cajuns had a scare early, but were able to come away with a 5-3 win over Princeton.

After a triple from Brian Arendt, Danny Hoy gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead off of a sac fly.

The Cajuns responded in the bottom of the second with a solo shot from Steven Sensley to tie things up. Kennon Fontenot gave the Cajuns a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning with a solo shot of his own.

But the Tigers weren’t about to go away with an RBI single to right field in the top of the sixth from Hoy to knot things up at two apiece. Joseph Flynn gave Princeton the lead later in the inning with an RBI single up the middle.

Fontenot tied things up again with an RBI single to center field in the bottom of the seventh. They would take the lead in the bottom of the eighth off a triple from Joe Robbins to left center to score Hunter Kasuls. The Cajuns would get an insurance run later in the inning from a foul out sac fly from Kyle Clement.

Eric Carter improved to 6-2 on the year allowing one hit, walked tow, and struck out five batters in three innings of work.

The Cajuns will move to the winners bracket and will face off against Arizona with first pitch scheduled for  7 pm.
