The Ragin Cajuns didn’t get a whole lot offense in, but were able to take down Arkansas State (13-14, 4-8 SBC) to take their fifth conference series by the score of 6-1.
Brenn Conrad got the Cajuns on the board in the top of the fifth with a sac bunt that allowed Stefan Trosclair to reach home.
The Red Wolves responded in the bottom of the fifth with Ty White scoring after a throwing error to third base from the catcher.
Kyle Clement got the Cajuns the lead back in the top of sixth with a two-run shot down the right field line.
The Cajuns put the game away in the top of the eighth with three runs, capped off with a sac bunt by Kyle Clement that would score two of those runs.
Nick Lee improved to 5-1 on the year allowing one runs off of two hits, walking five, and striking out eight batter in five and two-thirds of an inning of work. Eric Carter earned his first save of the year pitching three and a third shutout innings, allowing only one hit, and struck out five.
The Cajuns (18-10, 8-4 SBC) will return to the Tigue in a Tuesday night matchup against Northwestern State with first pitch scheduled for 6 pm.
