The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns have been receiving a lot of honors the last few weeks of the season and that continued on Monday when Raymond Calais was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week.
He is the fourth Ragin’ Cajun to earn the conference’s weekly honor this season and the second offensive player to do so after fellow running back Elijah Mitchell garnered the recognition on Sept. 23. The senior is now a two-time recipient of the award after winning it on Nov. 12, 2018, following a career-best performance against Georgia State.
Calais is coming off of a season-best performance, rushing for 144 yards and scoring twice in a 37-20 win over Arkansas State last Thursday in Jonesboro.
The Breaux Bridge native made the most of his touches carrying the ball eight times against the Red Wolves, averaging 18.0 yards per touch in the victory, highlighted by a season-high, 80-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The rush was tied for the 12th-longest scoring run in program history.
The Cajuns are back in action on November 2nd when they host the Texas State Bobcats for Homecoming. Kickoff is slated for 4 pm.
