Trey Ragas is headed to the NFL.
The Ragin’ Cajuns redshirt senior running back announced on Thursday afternoon that he was declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Ragas wrote on Twitter, “Cajun Nation. Thank you! Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to be a Ragin’ Cajun. You welcomed me with open arms and I will be forever grateful for the endless love and support you have shown me over the past five years. It has truly been an honor to represent Louisiana.”
Ragas further wrote, “After much thought, prayer and consideration, my journey to fulfill my childhood dreams continues as I am declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.”
The 5-foot-10, 230-pound running back earned third-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors three straight seasons from 2017-19, while rushing for 3,572 yards, averaging six yards per carry, and scoring 38 rushing touchdowns.
Ragas also recorded 49 receptions for 427 yards and five touchdowns.
Ragas did have the opportunity to return for a sixth season due to the extra year of eligibility that is being granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
