The Ragin Cajuns bats made a whole lot of noise on Sunday afternoon and took advantage of the old Louisiana heat to take down Arizona 10-3.
The Cajuns took charge early on with Stefan Trosclair striking first with a single to right center field in the bottom of the first to send Joe Robbins home. Later in the inning Conrad hit a sac bunt that allowed Clement to score. Pinero closed out the inning with a sac fly to right field.
Trosclair caught fire again in the bottom of the third with a no-doubter over the left field wall.
But the Wildcats weren’t about to go away and in the top of the fourth with a double down the left field line from Matijevic.
The Cajuns quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning with another three run inning highlighted by an RBI single from Brenn Conrad.
But Cody Ramer attempted to make it a ballgame in the top of the fifth with a two-run blast to right field to make it 7-3. But Brian Mills would put the game away with a sac bunt that would score two runs.
Gunner Leger improved to 7-3 on the year allowing three runs off of five hits, walked three, and struck out four in five innings of work. Jevin Huval got his third save of the season throwing four shutout innings of relief and allowing only two hits, walked three, and struck out six batters.
The Cajuns now head to the regional final on Monday and await the winner of Sam Houston State and Arizona. First pitch will be scheduled for 1 pm and the if necessary game will take place at 7 pm.
