Cajuns

The Ragin Cajuns got behind early on during the Saturday afternoon matchup against Arkansas State, but rallied back to take down the Red Wolves 16-10.

Schrimpf got things started for the Red Wolves early with an RBI triple in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. Arkansas State wouldn’t stop there getting five more runs in the inning to have a commanding lead.

The Cajuns would get on the board in the top of the third with an RBI single from Brenn Conrad to score Kyle Clement. The flurry of offense would continue later in the inning with Nick Thurman hitting a three run double to left center field to make it a two run deficit. Alex Pinero finished it up with a single to right center field to score Thurman.

The Red Wolves responded in the bottom half of the inning with a single by Ty White to score Lovell to keep a grip on the lead. But the Cajuns took the lead right from Arkansas State with a four run fourth highlighted by a two run single from Thurman.

The Cajuns would push further ahead of the Red Wolves with another four run inning that got started off with a two-run triple from Stefan Trosclair. Arkansas State would try to cut away at the lead with a two-run double from Rucker in the bottom half of the inning and an RBI single from White in the bottom of the sixth, but the Cajuns pulled away with a two run single to right center from Pinero in the seventh.

Jevin Huval improved to 2-1 on the year allowing two runs off of three hits, walked one, and struck out three in two and a third innings in relief. Eric Carter got his fourth save of the season allowing one run off of three hits, walked one, and struck out five in four innings.

The Cajuns will now try to win their third straight Sun Belt Conference Title against Georgia Southern with first pitch scheduled for 1 pm.
