With the football season in Louisiana not exactly reaching expectations, and hoops off to a tough start, perhaps today was the perfect time for a pre-season baseball poll.
Collegiate Baseball released their Pre-Season Top 40 (Top 40?), but local college baseball fans didn’t have to go any further than the Top 10 to find the Cajuns and Tigers.
Tony Robichaux’s club ranked #6th with Paul Mainieri’s squad right behind UL at #7. Both teams have plenty of holes to fill offensively, but at least early on, pitching will determine their success.
The Tigers ended the Cajuns season last year, winning a pair of games in the Super Regional they hosted in Baton Rouge. The rematch takes place in Metairie on March 22 in the Wally Pontiff Classic.
Both teams open their season, Friday, February 19th; the Cajuns host Sam Houston State while Cincinnati comes to Baton Rouge.
