After a big first win for Louisiana, the Cajuns and Tigers met in a winner take all game with a spot in the Super Regionals on the line. Louisiana scored six in the first, but none bigger than the RBI single from Jourdyn Campbell in the seventh to bring the Cajuns all the way back and into the Super Regional with a 9-8 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Louisiana starred hot with back-to-back singles from Mihyia Davis and Stormy Kotzelnick to put runners on the corners with nobody out. After a wild pitch got away from Newland, Davis came in to score and put the Cajuns on the board with still nobody out. After back-to-back walks, the bases were loaded with nobody out for Karly Heath, who pushed a run in on an RBI groundout.
After an Alexa Langeliers walk, Jourdyn Campbel hit her second home run of the afternoon, this time a grand slam to make it 6-0 Louisiana in the first inning.
LSU answered in the bottom of the second with a Georgia Clark solo shot to make it 6-1 Cajuns.
In the third, LSU added another one off an RBI single from Taylor Pleasants to score another run and make it 6-2 between the Cajuns and Tigers. That was the end of the day for Karly Heath, as Sam Landry came in to relieve her. Georgia Clark delivered again with a two-run single and it was suddenly a ball game again with the Cajuns up 6-4. McKenzie Redoutey made it a brand new ballgame with a two-run double to tie the ball game at 6-6. Karli Petty had the LSU run party continue with a single right field to score the go-ahead run and make it 7-6 in favor of LSU.
LSU tacked on another one in the fourth with an RBI single from Taylor Pleasants to score Ciara Briggs and make it 8-6 Tigers.
In the fifth, Louisiana cut the lead in half with a solo home run from Karly Heath, her 16th long ball of the season.
Louisiana got back to back singles from Allred and Heath to put two on with nobody out. Langeliers laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners over with just one out. A wild pitch by Sydney Berzon scored Allred to tie the game at eight. When LSU tried to walk Campbell, she turned on what would’ve been ball four to score Heath and give Louisiana the lead.
Chloe Riassetto gave up a pair of base runners in the seventh, but that’s all as Louisiana won 9-8 over LSU.

Jourdyn Campbell carried the Cajuns to victory with five RBIs including a grand slam in the first and the go-ahead RBI in the seventh.

Campbell was incredible on Sunday, starting with the three-run homer in Game 1. She had a grand slam in the six run inning early and then delivered with the go-ahead RBI single in the seventh to give Louisiana the go-ahead run.
