The LCA Knights road to a Division IV State Championship suffered a roadblock when star quarterback Zachary Clement went down with an injury towards the end of the regular season. After spending the last nine months recovering from the injury and subsequent surgery, the senior seems poised to have a big 2018 season.
He showed out in a big way last weekend at the LSU football camp and caught the eye of several universities across the state of Louisiana. After being away from the game that long, Clement isn’t concerned about gelling with the team because as he put it, they’ve been together throughout this whole process.
“I fit back with them really well. Throughout all of it, they’ve been with me encouraging me.” Clement said, “It’s like I’ve never really left them with them encouraging me and me being there talking back and forth with them it’s more getting back on the field with them rather than getting back in the groove with everybody.”
Add the fact that this offense is bringing back a lot of firepower, including Errol Rogers who filled in as the quarterback after the injury. “Our offense is going to be very good this year. With Coach Kyle (Carmouche) calling the plays, he always puts us in the right position to succeed and having all these electric athletes on the field with me will help us spread it out with all the things that we do. It’s really going to be hard to stop us this year.”
