The McNeese Cowboys fell 52-10 to the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday inside Kyle Field. The loss moves McNeese to 1-2 on the season as they prepare to begin Southland Conference play next week.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game began with Texas A&M receiving the football. They wasted no time working their way down the field, scoring on a five play, 75-yard drive. Le’Veon Moss capped it off with a two-yard touchdown run.
The McNeese offense was without quarterback Clifton McDowell in this one, so Kamden Sixkiller got the start. His first drive with the offense did not go anywhere, and the Cowboys had to punt.
A&M got the ball back, and did not waste much time. Six plays and 46 yards later, they were back in the end zone. Amari Daniels scored from two yards out this time, and it was 14-0 in favor of the Aggies.
Scoring drives continued on each of A&M’s first five drives. An interception and two more punts gave them the ball back, and each time they converted. On the final first half drive, the McNeese defense forced a field goal. The Aggies led 38-0 at the half.
The second half began with a quick punt and another long Aggie drive for a touchdown. That extended the lead to 45-0, and things slowed down after that.
The Cowboys finally got on the board in the fourth quarter. A long 19 play, 75 yard drive ended in a touchdown pass from Sixkiller to Jalen Wright. The Aggies answered it with a long touchdown run, making it 52-7.
McNeese put together one last drive before the end of the game. It ended with a field goal made by Tyler Larco as time expired to make it 52-10.
