The McNeese Cowboys, winners of their last two, have an opportunity to finish the 2024 season with a winning record, using their momentum to take on the Lamar Cardinals in the season finale.
The Cowboys and Cardinals last met in 2023 as Lamar took down Gary Goff’s squad 52-27 in Beaumont.
Kickoff inside Cowboy Stadium is set for 7:00 on Saturday, November 23rd and the action can be watched on ESPN+.
FINISH THE SEASON STRONG
McNeese is looking for their first seven-win season since 2019 in the third season for Gary Goff and his coaching staff.
Without Clifton McDowell, the offense will look to have success in the passing game with Kamden Sixkiller and the running game led by Joshon Barbie to end the season with a key home win.
CONTROL THE GROUND GAME
Lamar will come into Lake Charles with a very strong running game, led by Khalan Griffin who has rushed for over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. If McNeese wants to have success and finish the season with a win, they will need to control the ground game and make the Cardinals beat you with their passing attack.
McNeese has given up over 200 yards rushing a game to their opponents this season, so this is no easy task, but they will have to slow down Griffin.
HOME IS WHERE THE WINS ARE?
McNeese has the chance to finish undefeated at home in 2024 for the first time since 2017. The Cowboys are 4-0 inside Cowboys Stadium this season and have largely had convincing wins in Lake Charles.
How will the Battle for the Border shake out? Both teams come into this contest looking to finish 7-5.
