The McNeese Cowboys (4-4, 1-2 SLC) will travel to Thibodaux to face the Nicholls Colonels (3-4, 1-1 SLC) on Saturday afternoon for a Southland Conference contest.
The Cowboys are coming off of a tough road loss, falling 30-17 at Incarnate Word last Saturday. The Colonels got a shutout victory, besting Northwestern State 20-0.
Kickoff inside John L. Guidry Stadium is set for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
ONE LAST STOP
McNeese will conclude their long four-game road trip that has spanned more than a full month.
They beat Weber State to begin the trip, but then fell to Houston Christian and Incarnate Word in back-to-back weeks. A win over Nicholls could bring them to an even .500 record on the unusually long trip of road games, three of which coming in SLC play.
HEALTH GOES A LONG WAY
McNeese has dealt with injuries to some key players in recent games. Without Clifton McDowell available last week, Kamden Sixkiller had to step in at quarterback.
The offense has been more effective this season when McDowell has been back there. Getting the starting signal caller back in the lineup soon could change the fortunes for this Cowboys team. However, he has dealt with injuries all season.
WHICH COLONELS ARE HERE?
Nicholls has had a roller coaster type season so far. They went on the road to Tiger Stadium put up a respectable performance against LSU, scoring 21 points and impressing plenty.
However, they also lost a game 55-10 to Incarnate Word just a few weeks later. One of the deciding factors of this game could be which Nicholls team shows up to play on their home field.
