Former LSU All-American outfielder and Golden Spikes Award winner Dylan Crews will make his Major League debut on Monday night for the Washington Nationals as they host the New York Yankees. First pitch is set for 5:45 p.m. local time.
Crews, a Longwood, FL native, is the 86th Major Leaguer in the illustrious history of LSU Baseball. He joins Paul Skenes (Pirates) and Hunter Feduccia (Dodgers) as the third former Tiger this season to make his MLB debut.
Crews joins Skenes as the second player coached by Jay Johnson to reach the Show since Johnson’s tenure in Baton Rouge began in 2022.
For 30 of the last 34 seasons, LSU has been represented in the Majors by a former player making his debut.
Skenes and Crews were drafted first and second in the 2023 MLB Draft after capturing LSU’s seventh national title, making it the first time ever that the first and second pick came from the same program.
Crews is batting .270 with a .342 on-base percentage and a .451 slugging percentage between the Double-A Harrisburg Senators and the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings this season. The center fielder has 21 doubles, six triples, 13 home runs, 60 runs, 68 RBI, 25 steals, and 36 walks in 100 minor league games.
The Nationals are 59-72 and are currently 11.5 games out of the NL Wild Card with just 31 games remaining in the 2024 season.
