The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (1-3, 0-1 Sun Belt) didn’t even have time to catch their breath on Saturday morning as the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0) put up 28 points in the first quarter alone en route to a 56-14 win.
Alabama opened up the ballgame with an eight-play drive that was capped off by a nine-yard run by Josh Jacobs to get the Tide on the board. It only took another two minutes for Alabama to get on the board after a blocked punt and a 13-yard pass from Tua Tagovailoa to Henry Ruggs to make it 14-0.
It really started to become a boat race when Jaylen Waddle made a house call on a punt return from 63-yards out to increase the Tide’s lead with 8:02 left in the first quarter. Jacobs made it 28-0 with his second rushing touchdown in the quarter.
Things officially got out of hand when Najee Harris rushed one in from five yards out to make it 42-0 with 7:26 left until halftime.
The Cajuns would get both of their scores in the fourth quarter with a one-yard touchdown by Trey Ragas and an 18-yarder from Andre Nunez to JaMarcus Bradley.
The Cajuns will stay on the road and take on the Bobcats of Texas State (1-3, 0-1 Sun Belt) with kickoff set for 6 pm.
