LSU placed a pair of players on the Associated Press Midseason All-American team as wide receiver Malik Nabers was named to the first team and quarterback Jayden Daniels on the second team.
At the halfway point of the season, players are highlighted by the AP on both sides of the ball with a first and second-team All-American team.
Daniels and Nabers are the key leaders in a Tigers offense that is second nationally in total yards per game, third in scoring, and seventh in passing yards.
LSU has surpassed the 500-yard mark in six straight games, which is the longest stretch in program history. The Tigers have also scored 48 or more points in three consecutive conference games, which is just the second time in the SEC era.
Nabers lead FBS football with 860 yards on 52 catches. The Lafayette product also has seven touchdowns and is on pace to join Rayne native Josh Reed as the only players in school history with two 1,000-yard seasons receiving.
Nabers has made a catch in 25 straight games and has had over 100 yards in four games in 2023, including 239 yards on the road against Mississippi State.
Daniels has had a Heisman-worthy season as he leads the nation in offense, pass efficiency, and rushing yards by a quarterback. He’s also been the SEC Offensive Player of the Week three different times, which is the most in the league.
Daniels has four games with at least 400 yards of total offense, including 513 against Ole Miss. In the come-from-behind win over Missouri, he set a career-high in rushing yards with 130 while throwing for 259 and three touchdowns.
Through seven games, Daniels has thrown 22 touchdowns and ran for four more. He leads the league and is 2nd nationally in passing TDs and touchdowns responsible for while ranking third in passing yards.
Daniels has completed 152-of-208 passes for 2,294 yards and 22 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He became the only player in LSU history to pass for 5,000 yards and ran for another 1,000 in a Tigers uniform and he’s one of only two in FBS history with 11,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards.
