As the academic year begins to wrap up, the NCAA released their findings on Wednesday with the Academic Progress Rate (APR) being unveiled for all programs. With the release, it showed that the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns had eight sport programs hit perfect APR marks.
The perfect programs were the following: men’s cross country, women’s cross country, soccer, softball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, women’s track & field and volleyball.
“Our goal is for our more than 450 Louisiana student-athletes to continually demonstrate excellence in the classroom, and we have several of our Ragin’ Cajuns sport programs being recognized for their hard work by the NCAA,” Director of Athletics Bryan Maggard said in a statement released by the university. “Our mindset of competing for and winning championships begins in the classroom, and I’d like to commend all of our head coaches prioritizing academic achievement.”
The APR, created by the NCAA to provide a real-time measurement of academic success than graduation rates offer, is a team-based metric where scholarship student-athletes earn one point each term for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.
Below is where the programs are in both multiyear APR and the APR for 2017-18 with an interactive graph.
