Car’lin Vigers will get a chance to play in the NFL.
The former Eunice High and ULM star signed an undrafted rookie free agent contract with the Washington Commanders. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defensive back played three seasons with the ULM Warhawks, in which he appeared in 35 games, recording 131 tackles (72 solo), eight pass deflections, four tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions.
Prior to ULM, Vigers played in 15 games at Independence Community College in Kansas where he recorded 27 tackles, five pass break-ups and three interceptions.
Vigers arrived to football later in life when he didn’t start until his senior season playing for Paul Trosclair at Eunice High. That year was special as he helped the Bobcats win the 2018 Class 3A state championship — the program’s first state title in three decades.
Vigers recorded 109 tackles, four interceptions, and seven pass breakups and was selected as the District 5-3A Defensive MVP and received LSWA All-State first-team honors. He was also a four-year letterman for the boys’ basketball team at Eunice High.
Vigers will be joining a fellow Acadiana area star on the Commanders roster. Former Catholic High-New Iberia star Trey Amos was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday.
