Kayshon Boutte made the cut.
The former Westgate High and LSU star wide receiver has made the initial 53-man roster for the New England Patriots.
Boutte was drafted in the sixth round of this year’s NFL Draft by the Patriots who used the 187th overall pick to select him.
Boutte missed time early in rookie camp due to an injury but came on late during the preseason.
In New England’s first preseason game against the Houston Texans, Boutte caught two passes for seven yards in the 20-9 loss.
Boutte followed that up by catching two passes for 49 yards and scoring a 42-yard touchdown in a 21-17 win over Green Bay.
Boutte did not take part in New England’s final preseason game, a 23-7 loss to Tennessee.
In his three seasons with the Tigers, the 6-foot, 205-pound New Iberia native appeared in 27 games (21 starts) and hauled in 131 receptions for 1,782 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Boutte’s biggest moment was during his freshman season when he set an SEC record with 14 receptions for 308 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season finale against Ole Miss.
Boutte — who set a SEC record with 14 receptions for 308 yards against Ole Miss in 2020 — earned Freshman All-American honors and Freshman All-SEC honors that year.
Boutte is scheduled to see his first NFL regular season action on Sunday, September 10 when New England hosts defending NFC champion Philadelphia.
