Kayshon Boutte has been traded from one Super Bowl contender to another.
The former Westgate High and LSU star was traded on Monday by the New England Patriots. The defending AFC Champions traded Boutte to the Houston Texans.
In return, the Texans are sending safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round pick in the 2028 NFL Draft.
The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Boutte is coming off a strong season for the Patriots. He hauled in 33 receptions for 551 yards and a career-high six touchdowns.
Boutte was a reliable target for second-year Patriots quarterback Drake Maye as he caught nine receptions for 168 yards, including a 21-yard reception in the Super Bowl.
In three seasons in New England, Boutte appeared in 34 games (23 starts), with 121 receptions for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns.
Boutte was drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Patriots, who used the 187th overall pick to select the local product.
In his three seasons with the Tigers, the New Iberia native appeared in 27 games (21 starts) and hauled in 131 receptions for 1,782 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Boutte’s biggest moment in the purple and gold was during his freshman season when he set an SEC record with 14 receptions for 308 yards and three touchdowns in the regular-season finale against Ole Miss.
Boutte — who set an SEC record with 14 receptions for 308 yards against Ole Miss in 2020 — earned Freshman All-American honors and Freshman All-SEC honors that year.
Boutte was rated a four-star wide receiver by 247Sports and Rivals at Westgate High, and was ranked as the No. 1 receiver in the state of Louisiana by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports.
