After a tough loss late Friday night, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (4-6) returned to Minute Maid Park on Saturday afternoon with the intentions of bouncing back. However, it seemed to be easier said than done as they were facing the second-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores (9-3).
Jack Burk and the rest of the Cajuns were more than up to the challenge though, coming away with a 3-0 win over the Commodores, largely due to a two-run bomb from Kennon Fontenot in the bottom of the third.
The only other run that was scored on Saturday afternoon was when Hunter Kasuls was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.
Jack Burk got his first win of the season, improving to 1-2 on the year with seven shutout innings. The sophomore allowed only five hits, struck out five, and walked two in seven innings of work. Logan Stoelke got his fourth save of the season with two shutout innings.
The Cajuns wrap up the weekend with a matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats (10-1) with first pitch set for 11 am.
