LSU Tigers utility player and former Lafayette Christian Academy star quarterback Ju’Juan Johnson will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to Pete Nakos of On3.

Johnson was a force in high school, setting the all-time Louisiana prep yardage (14,451) and touchdown record (71) during his time as an LCA Knight. He played quarterback at that level, leading his team to four straight state championship game appearances. He also contributed at defensive back and became a four-star prospect on the defensive side before committing to LSU.

After beginning his career at corner for the Tigers, Johnson switched to the offensive side after injuries created depth issues. This season, he found a role at running back, rushing for 151 yards on 38 carries with two touchdowns. Additionally, he caught 17 passes for 72 yards and completed his only pass attempt for 14 yards.

The former highly touted prospect now enters the portal with multiple years of eligibility remaining.

With Johnson’s departure, LSU has just two scholarship running backs on their roster in Harlem Berry and Caden Durham. They are expected to be heavily active in the portal, but they will be thin for their December 27th bowl game against Houston.
