Former LSU Tiger baseball star pitcher Ben McDonald joined 103.7 The Game’s morning show, RP3 & Company, on Monday to discuss the possible MLB season return, his career with the Tigers and his experience winning an Olympic gold medal.
“I was a huge Olympic fan and I always wondered what it would be like to stand on that platform and have somebody drape a gold medal over your neck and I would be like ‘That would be the coolest thing in the world,” McDonald said.
McDonald won the 1988 Olympic gold medal and became the first overall pick in the 1989 draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He was also the 1989 Golden Spike Award winner. McDonald was inducted in the 2008 College Baseball Hall of Fame.
