Former LSU guard Tremont Waters was named the 2019-20 NBA G-League Rookie of the Year for his performance with the Maine Red Claws.
Waters averaged 18 points, 7.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game in 36 games for the Boston Celtics G-League affiliate.
After being selected with the 51st overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Waters appeared in 10 games for the Celtics. He averaged 3.3 points and 1.2 assists in 8.9 minutes per game.
The NBA G-League season was cancelled for the remainder of the season on June 4. The season was suspended on March 12 and was scheduled to conclude on March 28.
Waters spent two years with the LSU Tigers. He averaged 15.6 points, 5.9 assists and 3.1 rebounds over the course of his collegiate career. He appeared in 66 games, starting in 61.
In his first year, Waters was named All-Louisiana Freshman of the Year and Freshman All-SEC Team. He shined in the following year. Water was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, All-SEC Defensive Team and All-SEC First Team for the 2018-19 season. Waters was also named a Bob Cousy Award Finalist.
