Shawn Long has earned MVP honors.
The former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball star has been selected as the Korean Basketball League’s Import Player Regular Season MVP. In 54 games this season for the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, the 6-foot-9, 248-pound power forward averaged 21.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
With the Ragin’ Cajuns, Long would earn All-Sun Belt Conference honors three times, named Sun Belt Player of the Year, and became the first player in Ragin’ Cajuns history and SBC history to score 2,000 career points and pulling down 1,000 rebounds.
Long went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft but was signed by the Philadelphia 76ers. Long would play for both the franchise’s D-League team and for the 76ers averaging 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 18 games. Long would also earn NBA D-League Second Team honors and was named an D-League All-Star.
