Raymond Calais will be sidelined for a few months.
The former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns star suffered a foot fracture in Saturday’s preseason game between the Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders. Calais had three carries for five yards in the contest.
NFL.com reporter Tom Pelissero reported on Twitter that “Calais will have surgery Monday for a midfoot fracture and is facing a four-to six month recovery, per source.”
Later on Monday, the Rams announced that Calais had been waived but with an injury designation. Calais will be eligible to be placed back on the Rams’ injured reserve list once he clears the NFL waiver wire.
The former Cecilia High and Louisiana star was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Calais was cut by the Bucs but signed to the practice squad but five days later was signed by the Rams to its 53-man active roster.
Calais appeared in four games for the Rams last season recording seven returns for 152 yards, averaging 21.7 yards per return.
