The Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2017 could have some Louisiana flavor this August.
Former LSU Tiger Kevin Mawae and former New Orleans Saints kicker Morten Andersen were among the 15 modern-era finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The other finalists announcedwere LaDainian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, Brian Dawkins, Isaac Bruce, Don Coryell, Terrell Davis, Alan Faneca, Joe Jacoby, Ty Law, John Lynch, Terrell Owens, and Kurt Warner.
Andersen is the NFL’s leading scorer with 2,544 points, has the most field goals, and games played in his illustrious 25-year career. He was added to the Saints Ring of Honor in August 2015.
Mawae, who played on the offensive line for the Tigers from 1989 to 1993 before being picked up in the second round by the Seattle Seahawks. He would spend 15 years in the league with the Seahawks, Jets, and Titans before retiring in 2009. He joined the Chicago Bears staff last season as an assistant offensive line coach.
The class of 2017 will be elected on February 4th, the day before the Super Bowl in Houston.
