Cole Kelley picked up a few honors Monday.
The former Teurlings Catholic star and current Southeastern Louisiana star quarterback was named the Offensive Player of the Week by both the Southland Conference and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Kelley threw for 444 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-10 road victory at Central Connecticut State on Saturday. It is the second time this season that Kelley has received the honor from the LSWA.
In three games this season, Kelley has thrown for 1,202 yards, completed 74.4 percent of his passes, with 10 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions. Kelley has also racked up 83 rushing yards and scored four rushing touchdowns.
Southeastern (2-1) is on the bye this week and is ranked No. 16 in both FCS national polls.
McNeese’s Corione Harris and Mason Pierce meanwhile picked up Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Players of the Week honors from both the SLC and LSWA.
In Saturday’s 31-24 win at Southern, Harris had an important third-quarter sack that set up a McNeese interception and later recorded a fumble that led to a field goal.
Pierce tied a school and SLC record with a 100-yard kickoff return on the opening kick of the game for the Cowboys.
Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese face off on Saturday, Oct. 2.
