It has been a very good week for a pair of former University of Louisiana men’s basketball stars.
Earlier this week, Frank Bartley earned 2018-19 All-NBLC First Team honors as a member of the Saint John Riptide. That capped a terrific first season in the National Basketball League of Canada for the former Ragin’ Cajuns star.
Bartley averaged 19.3 points per game, finished eighth in the NBLC in scoring, eclipsed the 20-point mark 18 times, and was named Player of the Week twice and was named the NBLC Rookie of the Year in April.
Bartley was a two-year letterwinner at UL from 2016-18 and earned first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2017-18 after he averaged 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
Bartley wasn’t the only former Ragin’ Cajun star to get some good news.
Early on Thursday morning, Shawn Long continued his professional career by signing with the Melbourne United for the 2019-20 season.
Long earned All-NBL Second Team honors after he averaged 18.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game last season for the New Zealand Breakers.
Long, who was the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, began his pro career with the Delaware 87ers of the NBA D-League (now known as G-League) before playing 18 games as a reserve for the Philadelphia 76ers. During his time with the 76ers, Long averaged 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 13 minutes per game.
