The New Orleans Pelicans coaching staff is starting to form.

According to ESPN’s Andrew Lopez, the team announced on Thursday they are bringing back assistant coach Fred Vinson under new head coach Stan Van Gundy.

“Vinson is known for his shooting work with players – particularly with BI and Lonzo Ball last year,” Lopez said.

Ball shot 32.9 percent from three with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018-19. He improved his three-point percentage in his first season with the Pelicans and shot 37.5 percent in 2019-20.

Ingram also improved his three-point percentage in his first season in New Orleans. He shot 33 percent from three in 2018-19 and shot 39.1 percent this past season.

The rest of the staff is expected to be finalized next week, according to Lopez.

Van Gundy added a familiar face to his coaching staff earlier this week with assistant coach Bob Beyer, who worked with the Pelicans head coach in Orlando from 2007-2012 and again in Detroit from 2014-2018.
