The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns placed two players on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Week1 Player of the Week awards as Chandler Fields and Eric Garror were represented along with Tulane’s Macon Clark.
Fields completed 13 of his 20 passes in his first career start for the Cajuns, compiling 173 yards and two touchdowns to help guide the Cajuns to a 24-7 win over Southeastern Louisiana Saturday night. The Metairie native threw his first touchdown on the opening drive, finding Johnny Lumpkin for a 28-yard score and then finding Lumpkin late in the fourth to seal the win.
Garror, on the other hand, handed Louisiana a 17-0 lead in the second when he scampered 83 yards on a punt return. This was his second punt return touchdown of his career, with the first coming in 2020 vs Iowa State. The win over the Lions pushed Louisiana’s longest active win streak in the country to 14 games, and Garror was named Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts.
