Sunday afternoon at Russo Park wasn’t exactly a windy day, but that didn’t stop Georgia Southern (32-16, 15-9 Sun Belt). The Eagles ended up with four bombs, all of which to left field to win the rubber match against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (28-19-1, 14-9-1 Sun Belt) to take the rubber match 9-1.
Ryan Cleveland did it again in the first with a two-run blast for the second straight game. The Eagles got another run on the board in the second from Cal Baker with a solo shot, the second of his career.
Brad Antchak finally got the Cajuns on the board in the bottom of the second with his own solo shot to right field, his first of the season.
However, Georgia Southern exploded in the eighth with a six run inning, highlighted by an two-run inside the park home run from Jordan Wren.
Hogan Harris dropped to 3-2 on the season allowing three runs off of four hits. The sophomore did have a solid showing despite allowing two HRs early on, walking two and striking out nine in seven innings of work.
The Cajuns will continue the homestand on Tuesday when they host Louisiana Tech (32-15) with first pitch set for 6 pm.
